Functional Capacity Evaluations determine an individual's physical
abilities to perform work.
The evaluations measure strength and endurance to predict the overall
capability of the individual.
Validity and Consistency of Effort is established during every
evaluation.
Redding Physical Therapy utilizes the Matheson System of Functional
Capacity Evaluations due to the extensive research that supports the
data collected during testing.
Benefits
-
Provides reliable and reproducible evidence about an employee's
ability to perform their job tasks.
-
Determines the consistency of an effort and reliability of
subjective reports.
-
Identifies appropriate recommendations for job modifications, if
necessary.

Work
Conditioning

restore an individual's physical capacity and function for safe
return-to-work.
Work Conditioning is typically 3-hours per day, 3-days per week.
Redding Physical Therapy's Work Conditioning Program identifies and
quantifies an individual's work-related physical restoration needs.
The results of the individual's assessment are used to design a
progressive plan of care, plan for discharge and return-to-work.
Redding Physical Therapy’s Work Conditioning can include, but is not
limited to the following:
-
Musculoskeletal Screening and Evaluation.
-
Body
Mechanics and Ergonomic Instruction.
-
Aerobic
Training
-
Manual
Material Handling, job specific.
-
Non-material Handling and Tolerances.

Work
Simulation, as needed.
-
Consistency Testing.
-
Instruction in Strengthening & Flexibility.

Work Hardening
Work Hardening is a comprehensive multidisciplinary treatment program
designed to restore an individual’s physical capacity and function for
safe return-to-work. It
incorporates the use of conditioning tasks that are graded to
progressively improve the biomechanical, neuromuscular, cardiovascular,
metabolic, nutritional and psychosocial functions of the individual in
conjunction with real or simulated work activities.
Work Hardening, a highly structured, goal oriented, individualized
treatment program provides a transition between acute care and return to
work while addressing the issues of productivity, safety, physical
tolerances, and work behaviors.
Benefits
-
Typically 4-6 hours per day, 5-days per week
-
Uses
work simulation as a primary component.

Ergonomic Assessment
This evaluation of an individual’s job site and/or workstation
identifies critical physical demands required of workers to safely
perform their job tasks. An
ergonomic assessment by a Credentialed Ergonomic Evaluator may include
rearranging the “workstation” to improve “the fit” between the worker
and the workstation, instruction in safe work techniques, and evaluation
of tools, equipment and adaptive devices.
An ergonomic analysis is recommended when a worker begins to show
symptoms of any repetitive strain injury or for employees who are
returning to work after an injury.
The goal is to reduce symptoms, time lost from work, and further medical
intervention.
Benefits
-
Reduces repetitive stress
-
Improves posture and body mechanics
-
Facilitates the healing process of an injured worker
-
Reduces the risk of injury or re-injury
